Drexel Marketing Association held its monthly General Body Meeting last night, Tuesday March 2. At the meeting Brian Krick, Search Engine Marketing for Razorfish gave a very informing presentation about search engine marketing. We had a good turnout with 30 guests and over half were first time DMA members. Keep an eye out for our next General Body meeting in April.

After our General body meeting we held our weekly executive board meeting, and here is a small recap of the discussion. On Sunday March 7, the DMA will be manning a table for Accepted Students Day. Accepted students can come by and speak with DMA representatives to learn more about our organization. Branding has become a hot topic in the marketing and communications world. But, do we really know everything that the word “brand” means?

This presentation will reveal the different parts of a brand, what brand identity means, and how to build a strong brand.

Christine Sheller, the Creative Director for Susquehanna International Group will present the session.

You will get CEO credit for attending this event and it will be a great way to learn about brand identity from a professional.

Come out and join the DMA at our upcoming General Body Meeting. At this meeting we are going to have a special guest speaker. Brian Krick, the Vice President of Search Engine Marketing for Razorfish will be joining us and giving a presentation on “Search Engine Marketing: Capitalizing on Consumer Demand”. This should be an exciting look into the work of Search Engine Marketing.

We will also be going over upcoming events, AMA, and Lebow College of Business Accepted Students Day. We hope to see everyone at 7pm in Matheson 109.

On Wednesday February 24, the Drexel marketing Association held its first ever Professional networking Event. The event gave students the opportunity to mix and mingle with professionals from the top marketing and media companies in Philadelphia.

The event was a huge success. We had 40 Drexel Students and marketing professionals attend the event. The event was such a success, that we are going to make this an annual affair with the DMA, and possibly, twice a year for students just starting out on Co-op.

Here is a quick recap of the DMA’s last executive board meeting. On Wednesday, February 24, 2010 the DMA will be holding its Professional Networking Event. Guests will include Razorfish, Brownstein Group, and Philly Ad Club. This event is @6pm in the Paul Peck Auditorium, and stay tuned for more info in a later post today. We also have a date for our next General Body Meeting. It will be held on March 2nd, and we will be having a guest speaker. The location is TBA but more info will be coming shortly. Finally on March 3rd the Marketing and Communications Series will be holding the brand Identity Revealed workshop in the Academic Building room 107 at 6pm. Look out for more info on that great event also.

Next, the Exec Board discussed a new way to reach all of our members, without spamming anyone with tons of emails. We have to decided to launch a newsletter, which will go out to all of our members each week to bring awareness to events and other happenings in the DMA in a uniformed manner. This newsletter will be coming shortly. The Drexel Marketing Association is also looking for general body members to help man the Accepted Students Day table that will be on March 3rd. This is a great opportunity to reach out to incoming students and tell them about this great organization. This will be discussed further in the Upcoming General Body meeting.

The last topic discussed was, the DMA’s involvement in the upcoming American Marketing Association Conference in New Orleans. We will be sending 12 members to this year’s conference and competing in a number of different events for the pride of Drexel. Very serious stuff.
